Grant – what is it?
A grant is a sum of money awarded to an organization after completing the application process to obtain funding. The funds awarded are usually non-refundable if all the conditions for obtaining these funds are met. Grants are therefore often called ‘free’ money, but the process of obtaining such funds requires a lot of time and effort. Grants can be obtained from several sources, listed below.
How to get a grant?
Tenders aimed at local community development. They are mostly tendered by municipalities for the non-profit and agricultural sectors, sometimes also for companies operating at the local level.
Tenders of numerous ministries of the Republic of Slovenia, the Slovenian Enterprise Fund (SPS), the Public Fund of the Republic of Slovenia for Human Resources Development and Scholarships, the Eco Fund and other state agencies and bodies.
European Union tenders
The European Commission provides direct financial contributions in the form of grants to projects or organizations that support European interests or participate in the implementation of EU programs and policies.
International tenders (except EU)
Obtaining funds from the United Nations, the Council of Europe, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), through the Swiss mechanism and others.
